Forum: feature_films Subject: Spawn of the Devil question

The spawn of the Devil being Wade Williams.

A while back I picked up a four-DVD set in a supermarket bargain bin. Each DVD is stamped "2001 Wade Williams all rights reserved." The DVDs are produced by Image Entertainment which only claims copyright for the box packaging. There are no extra or secondary copyright notices in the actual DVD contents. The movies are:

"The Giant Gila Monster" 1959 (Previously vetted as PD and already here)
"She Demons" 1958 (Previously vetted as PD and already here)
"Lost Continent" 1951
"Monster From Green Hell" 1957

My question is, are "Lost Continent" and "Monster From Green Hell" also PD? If they are I'll post them shortly.

Thanks very much.

The Giant Gila Monster is the only one carried by Alpha Video.
In an earlier thread it was stated that She Demons is carried by Alpha. That is incorrect. It is sold at Oldies.com, but that site obviously sells many other labels besides Alpha Video.

According to the list in this post: https://archive.org/post/285670/are-these-public-domain Lost Continent was renewed by Hammer and Monster From Green Hell was renewed by Williams so both are still under copyright.

Many thanks for linking this list.

However, "Lost Continent" 1951 is a Lippert production, not the 1961 Hammer film.

The question still remains if Williams' copyright claims for
"The Giant Gila Monster" and "She Demons" obviously are bogus,
isn't it likely his claims for the other two films in this set also aren't valid?

The 1951 Lost Continent, unfortunately, is under copyright. The list has the group responsible for renewing it switched (Hammer instead of the proper Weiss Global), but the registration number (Re0000015345) pulls up the Lippert film.
From what I've seen on the forums about Williams he does have a few legit claims and then tries to enforce a bunch of bogus ones. As you said, "Gila" and "She Demons" are obviously bogus.
